Cleveland, Ohio Wedding & Motherhood Photographer For Chapters That Change Quicker Than You Think

To get a little personal, my grandma passed away about ten years ago, and I think about her constantly…especially when I picture my own wedding day and know she won’t be there. What I do have are photos: proof that those moments happened. I can look at them and remember her laugh, her presence, the way it felt to be with her, and this is exactly what I want to give you.

Whether you’re getting married or in the thick of motherhood, these seasons move faster than anyone prepares you for. My work is about holding onto the small, real moments inside the big ones so you can come back to them later and remember everything that season stood for.

That experience taught me relationship management in real time: how to stay calm when things go awry, how to have a loud voice when it’s necessary, how to read emotions quickly, and how to guide people with empathy instead of pressure. And that translates directly into how I photograph!

On wedding days, it means I can step in with calm leadership, help things flow, and keep portraits moving without making them feel stiff or stressful. In motherhood sessions, it means your kids don’t have to “perform” for me. Trust me, I know how to work with real personalities, real energy levels, and real life.
My approach is documentary at the core with gentle direction built in, clear prompts when you want help, space when you don’t, and an artful eye on the moments you can’t plan.

You want photos that look beautiful, but you also want the experience to feel steady. You don’t want to spend your wedding day managing a dozen moving pieces, and you don’t want a family session that feels like a high-stress event you have to survive. You want someone who can read the room, guide when needed, stay calm when things get loud, and make you feel comfortable right away because life is already moving fast enough.

I come from a large family, and I’ve nannied for the last seven years, so I’m used to a lot happening at once.

Hi, I’m Shawnae,
and I’m here because I know what it feels like to want more than just “nice photos.”

Shaylei, Phil, & Nolan

We’ve been working with Shawnae since 2021 and she never disappoints. She brings confidence to maternity photos, softness to newborn photos, and excitement to all of the little milestones. Her care and flexibility are unmatched and she captures every moment you don’t want to forget!

"she never disappoints"

I’m going to ask about your hobbies and the things you love. What you do on weekends. What makes you laugh. What you’re excited about. Believe me when I say that the best photos happen when you feel comfortable, and comfort starts with feeling understood.

If you’re nervous about photos, here’s what I need you to know:

 I’m warm,

 I’m a good listener,

and I’m going to treat you like real people.

Outside of weddings and sessions, I’m proudly a couch potato. I’m a huge movie and TV fanatic (currently binging old seasons of Survivor).

I foster kittens, volunteer at the animal shelter taking photos of adoptable cats, and I recently started restoring American Girl dolls.

I love ballet, but I’m also always down to go out dancing. I love hikes and long walks.
Music fuels my everyday, and I collect vinyls from concerts I go to because I refuse to let a good night disappear into “that was fun” and nothing else.

If I had to sum me up in a few words, they would be:

 I’m sentimental,

I’m observant,

and I notice the little things.

Calm is part of the experience I provide because you deserve to feel taken care of.

Steady energy.

I’ll never rush you, shame you, or make you feel awkward for being human.

Empathy first.

I’m here for what matters, not what’s trending.

People over perfection.

The honest moments are always the ones worth keeping.
